Question: Where do I find information about work and witness?

Answer:
Look at this web site www.workandwitness.com
Or email to wmww@nazarene.org

Question: What will it cost a team to come on a work and witness trip?

Answer: The usual cost for projects on the Southwest Native American District is between $5K and $10K. We will pray that God will supply the finances as the team begins to prepare for the trip.

Question: When and where do I send my money for the project?

Answer: Checks should be marked payable to the General Treasurer, Church of The Nazarene . All project money is to be sent three months prior to the arrival date for the team and should be mailed to:

General Treasurer, Church of the Nazarene
6401 The Paseo
Kansas City, MO 64131

The team leader needs to include the following information with the check:

  1.  The name of the SNAD W&W project site
  2.  The name of the church or district sponsoring the team
  3.  The date of the trip.

Question: Do I have to register the trip with Kansas City?

Answer: Yes, Every team leader must register their trip with Kansas City.

Question:  Who do I contact about the amount of money our team is to bring?

Answer:  If there are concerns about raising the total amount of project money please contact the Work and Witness facilitators at 505 918 4005 or ekrestel@hotmail.com.

Question: What money does not go to Kansas City?

Answer: The field expense money for food, transportation, etc does not get sent to Kansas City. The team leader should keep records of the money as it is spent.  Please refer to the Finance section of The Team Coordinator’s Domestic Resource Manual for forms for 10% credit; this is to be completed after the trip. Side excursions, tourism and souvenirs are not eligible for the 10% credit. The Team Coordinator’s Domestic Resource Manual is available on line or by phoning Hope Tallant at 816-333-7000.

Question:  What if the project is completed under cost?

Answer:  If a project is completed under cost, any remaining team funds will be transferred to the SNAD 10% emergency operating fund unless prior arrangements have been made with the SNAD district superintendent's office. This will allow us to help other churches on the district as needs arise.

Question: Does the team have to have team insurance provided by Kansas City

Answer:  Teams MUST have Work and Witness Insurance as per General Assembly action. Insurance can be obtained through the Work and Witness Department. Currently the insurance is $1.75 per person per day. Contact Hope Owens at Headquarters in Kansas City 816 -333 -7000 to register and obtain insurance.

Question: How is the 10% emergency operating fund used?

Answer: This money is used to build an emergency fund to take care of all 35 sites;  not every church has Work and Witness Teams visit and many churches go without repairs due to lack of funds.

Awareness:  When preparing your work and witness budget, please note, the 10% is included in the project money.  If you prefer to have the SNAD church you are helping receive the full amount of project money, you should send an additional 10% in a separate check.  These checks should be mailed to Kansas City at least three months before you are scheduled to arrive. We do not want any surprises for the teams and the pastors regarding this policy, so if you have any questions or concerns please contact the Work and Witness facilitators at 505 -918 -4005.

An example of how the 10% was used occurred in the fall of 2007 when we had a water system and pump go out in the Chi’hootso Church ( St. Michaels, AZ ).
churchThe church and pastor were without water or plumbing for four days until we could get the entire system replaced.  The cost was about $2800.00 and was covered out of the 10% emergency fund. We are praising God for the teams who did contribute their 10%, and wanted to thank you for that.  Having this emergency fund in place allowed us to meet this need.

Question:  Do Ed and Lynda Krestel and Philip and Alice Bough receive any money from the project money?

Answer: NO, Ed and Lynda Krestel and Philip and Alice Bough are paying their own personal living expenses as they serve on the Southwest Native American District.  The 10% taken from each team’s money is used for native churches.  None of it is used for staff support.

Thank you, for your interest in work and witness on the Southwest Native American District.
